Things to see and do in the area
The Wild Coast offers beautiful, untouched nature, lonely beaches, sweeping hills with grazing cattle, stunning views ...

Rain Mountain

Originally used by traditional healers to call for rain, there was a dance on the tip of the hill to call for the summer rains. This is a beautiful place and is now visited by goats and children. Cows and adults are not allowed incase they slip and fall.

Guided walking Tour Cost: R45 per person

Secret Beach (Manzamnyama Beach)

Secret Beach is set between two hills and is protected from the wind but gets full sun. A wonderful place to spend the day or wander up the river and go explore if you are feeling energetic. You can also collect mussels and oysters for the nights meal.

Waterfall Beach

On the other side is a larger beach where you can play soccer or frisbee with the village kids. There is a river here and if you follow it up you will get to the waterfalls and pools. You can also snorkel and fish off the rocks here.

Fishing lessons: R60 for an hour or two or R140 for the full day of fishing and collecting mussels or crayfish (seasonal).

Village Tour

Take a guided walk through the village to visit families and help with the project of the day - a great way to meet the people in the village and learn the Xhosa greetings.

Mpame Forest

Take a walk or ride on the forest side of the village. This is open to all and free unless you want a guide (R50). You will find a beautiful coastal forest with tall indigenous trees.
